Hayes moves to Energy in reshuffle
Skills minister John Hayes has been moved to the Department of Energy and Climate Change, where he replaces Charles Hendry as Minister of State for Energy.
Hayes is replaced at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills by Conservative West Suffolk MP Matthew Hancock, who was appointed joint Parliamentary Undersecretary for BIS and the Department for Education in yesterday's government reshuffle.
Hancock says on his website: "I'm delighted to become a minister in BIS and the Department for Education. I grew up in a small business. I passionately believe in the importance of turning around our economy, helping businesses create jobs, and improving skills and apprenticeships.
"It is a huge honour to serve the government as well as serving my constituents in West Suffolk. I'll give it my all."
Hayes, Conservative MP for South Holland and The Deepings, became Minister of State for Further Education, Skills and Lifelong Learning when the coalition government took office in May 2010. Two months later he was made Minister of State in the Department for Education, with particular responsibility for apprenticeships, careers guidance and vocational education.
