PHX Training aid equipment specialists with management skills

Fifteen managers at a control and protection equipment specialist Acrastyle have achieved an Apprenticeship/NVQ certificate in management through training provider PHX Training.

The certificate ensures that staff at the company, based at Ulverston in Cumbria, are conversant in management techniques, observations in meetings, presentations and discussions.

The course lasted twelve months and staff have also been undertaking functional skills in English, Maths and IT.

David Brands, managing director of Acrastyle, said: "We are committed to training staff to improve productivity and team work in the company. This worked for us and enabled our managers to develop their skills and techniques, and is something they can use in an ongoing way."

Acrastyle specialises in control and protection equipment for electrical power transmission and distribution systems, as well as control system design and integration, indoor and outdoor kiosks, metering cubicles, battery equipment, disconnectors and liquid neutral earthing resistors.

The company, which also has a site at Chennai, India, offers complete design and project management of electrical and mechanical equipment for a wide range of customers. A comprehensive engineering function, with full drawing office support, includes the preparation of schematic diagrams according to specification.
